Today is Earth Overshoot Day, a sobering reminder of the environmental crisis we are facing. For the rest of the year, we will be using more resources from nature than our planet can renew. This overshoot has consequences for both people and the planet: it is fueling climate change, robbing future generations of natural resources, and leading to habitat loss and biodiversity decline. The good news is that there are things we can do to change course. We can start by making more sustainable choices in our daily lives, such as eating less meat, wasting less food, and driving less.

medicalvision knows exactly what to do when it comes to being sustainable! Not only do we have a heat pump to keep the building warm in the winter and cool in the summer, but it's also more efficient than using traditional heating or cooling methods. This helps us save energy and do our part to protect the environment.

We're always looking for ways to minimize our carbon footprint. That's why at medicalvision, we rely on electric company cars because they have the fewest environmental impacts possible.

medicalvision has also made changes to reduce the plastic waste produced by our employees. In 2019, the company purchased reusable bottles for all employees and discouraged the use of plastic bottles. These bottles can be refilled countless times by employees using the water filtration system installed in our kitchen complete with carbonated mineral water. This is our own refill station. This project will eliminate as many as 9900 plastic bottles per year from our agency.

World Overshoot day is a sobering reminder of the challenges we face in ensuring sustainable resource management. But it doesn’t have to be doom and gloom. We can all make small changes in our everyday lives that will add up over time and help move the date of world overshoot day further into the future.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started! How will you reduce your ecological footprint today?
