Silent Night

Silent Night

For most of us the holidays are a time of cheer and togetherness. Even amid a pandemic many of us will find a way to celebrate with loved ones and friends and exchange presents. To quote the famous Christmas song by Andy Williams it can be the “most wonderful time of the year”. For many, however, the holidays are a time of year that only exacerbates feelings of depression and loneliness that they may have already been feeling long before the days started getting shorter and the nights, colder.

For older adults in particular, the holidays can be especially difficult. As we age, we often will lose our spouses, siblings, and friends and if we have children who live far away, we may find ourselves alone and feeling very isolated on a day intended to bring us all joy. This year is also made more complicated by the restrictions we must deal with regarding COVID.

The non-profit Caritas organizes a charitable drive each year called “Freude Schenken” (loosely translated “Give Joy”) in which they collect presents for men, women and children that are alone and isolated or otherwise do not have the means to exchange gifts during the holidays. It is a small way to let these people know that they are not forgotten even if it may feel that way sometimes.

Medicalvision is taking part in this event this year and collecting gifts from a number of our employees in order to help make the holidays a little brighter for those that may be going through a difficult time.

The team at medicalvision would like to wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season!
